Here is everything you need to know about Disney Lorcana, the popular trading card game from Ravensburger:
What is Disney Lorcana?
Disney Lorcana is a collectible trading card game (TCG) where players build decks featuring reimagined versions of classic Disney characters, heroes, and villains known as “glimmers.” Players use different types of “inks” to summon characters, cast actions, and race to collect 20 “lore” to win the game.
Is it available in the UK?
Yes, fully available. Lorcana has a massive footprint in the UK. You can easily buy sealed products, starter kits, and single cards from major UK hobby stores (such as Magic Madhouse, Total Cards, and Chaos Cards), online marketplaces, and the official Disney Store UK.
When was it brought out?
The game officially launched in August 2023 with its very first set, The First Chapter. New expansion sets release regularly every few months, keeping the game fresh and expanding the card pool.
Is it expensive?
For casual players and beginners: It is quite accessible. Ready-to-play Starter Decks cost around £15 to £17, and individual booster packs go for £6 to £9.
For collectors and competitive players: Costs can scale up. Full Booster Boxes (containing 24 packs) generally retail between £100 and £130, and ultra-rare “Enchanted” chase cards or special promo versions can command high prices on the secondary market.
What market is it aimed at?
Lorcana bridges a wide gap:
Families and casual gamers: It features approachable mechanics suitable for kids (typically ages 8+) and casual game nights.
Disney fans and collectors: The stunning original artwork makes it a massive hit for Disney memorabilia collectors.
Competitive TCG players: It has a robust organized play scene with local game store tournaments and regional competitive events.
Is it still running?
Yes, it is very active and thriving. Ravensburger releases new sets consistently, maintaining a strong community of players, active competitive structures, and regular expansions.
